In 2022, the average export price for ginger, saffron, tumeric (curcuma), thyme, bay leaves, curry and other spiceses amounted to $2,745 per ton, growing by 16% against the previous year. In general, the export price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when the average export price increased by 21%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $3,175 per ton. From 2015 to 2022, the average export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Spain ($11,649 per ton), while the average price for exports to Canada ($44 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Afghanistan (+27.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
