The average import price for ginger, saffron, tumeric (curcuma), thyme, bay leaves, curry and other spiceses stood at $3,498 per ton in December 2022, reducing by -12.7% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in May 2022 when the average import price increased by 17% m-o-m. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure at $4,200 per ton in September 2022; however, from October 2022 to December 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Saudi Arabia ($5,950 per ton), while the price for China ($1,924 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2022 to December 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by India (+2.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Over the period under review, the export price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in July 2022 an increase of 16% against the previous month. The export price peaked at $4,392 per ton in August 2022; however, from September 2022 to December 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was the United States ($5,010 per ton), while the average price for exports to Free Zones ($1,376 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2022 to December 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the United States (+1.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
