Price for Glass Fibre and Article in Switzerland (CIF) - 2022
In 2022, the average glass fibre and article import price amounted to $3,146 per ton, growing by 16% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, saw a slight setback. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure at $3,570 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($5,755 per ton), while the price for Bosnia and Herzegovina ($1,619 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Italy (+6.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Price for Glass Fibre and Article in Switzerland (FOB) - 2022
The average glass fibre and article export price stood at $3,075 per ton in 2022, surging by 11% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, recorded a slight reduction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 an increase of 23% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $4,962 per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($6,198 per ton), while the average price for exports to the Netherlands ($1,114 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the UK (+1.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.
Imports of Glass Fibre and Article in Switzerland
After three years of growth, overseas purchases of glass fibres and glass fibre articles decreased by -17.3% to 45K tons in 2022. Overall, total imports indicated resilient growth from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +8.4% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +27.3% against 2019 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 51% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of 54K tons, and then shrank significantly in the following year.
In value terms, glass fibre and article imports dropped slightly to $141M in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +8.0% over the period from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 35%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $146M, and then fell modestly in the following year.
