Price for Glass Fibre and Article in Thailand (CIF) - 2022
In 2022, the average glass fibre and article import price amounted to $2,230 per ton, remaining relatively unchanged against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 an increase of 25%. The import price peaked at $2,397 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Taiwan (Chinese) ($4,586 per ton), while the price for Malaysia ($1,409 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Taiwan (Chinese) (+6.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
Price for Glass Fibre and Article in Thailand (FOB) - 2022
In 2022, the average glass fibre and article export price amounted to $2,295 per ton, reducing by -8.5% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price saw a mild slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 an increase of 34% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the peak figure at $3,403 per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($3,431 per ton), while the average price for exports to Myanmar ($1,374 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Japan (+2.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.
Imports of Glass Fibre and Article in Thailand
In 2022, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in supplies from abroad of glass fibres and glass fibre articles, when their volume decreased by -26.3% to 78K tons. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.5% over the period from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 20% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of 106K tons, and then declined dramatically in the following year.
In value terms, glass fibre and article imports declined remarkably to $174M in 2022. In general, total imports indicated perceptible growth from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +3.9% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +12.0% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 50%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $239M, and then shrank markedly in the following year.

Exports of Glass Fibre and Article in Thailand
For the fourth consecutive year, Thailand recorded growth in shipments abroad of glass fibres and glass fibre articles, which increased by 29% to 36K tons in 2022. Over the period under review, exports recorded significant growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when exports increased by 38%. The exports peaked in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in years to come.
In value terms, glass fibre and article exports skyrocketed to $84M in 2022. Overall, total exports indicated a resilient expansion from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +17.5% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +78.6% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 52%. The exports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.
