Price for Glass Fibres and Wool in Germany (FOB) - 2023
In August 2023, the average glass fibres and wool export price amounted to $14,906 per ton, increasing by 6.2% against the previous month. Overall, export price indicated a pronounced expansion from August 2022 to August 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +4.7% over the last twelve-month period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on August 2023 figures, glass fibres and wool export price increased by +6.2% against July 2023 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in February 2023 when the average export price increased by 46% month-to-month. The export price peaked at $15,209 per ton in May 2023; however, from June 2023 to August 2023, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was the UK ($36,672 per ton), while the average price for exports to Denmark ($4,198 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the UK (+14.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average glass fibres and wool import price stood at $12,508 per ton in August 2023, with an increase of 29% against the previous month. In general, import price indicated prominent growth from August 2022 to August 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +6.6% over the last twelve-month period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on August 2023 figures, glass fibres and wool import price increased by +40.6% against June 2023 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in September 2022 an increase of 44% m-o-m. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure in August 2023.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was the UK ($49,063 per ton), while the price for Slovenia ($1,202 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Belgium (+14.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Exports of Glass Fibres and Wool in Germany
For the third year in a row, Germany recorded decline in overseas shipments of glass fibres and glass wool, which decreased by -29.6% to 32K tons in 2022. Over the period under review, exports recorded a abrupt decline. The smallest decline of -13% was in 2021.
In value terms, glass fibres and wool exports declined to $253M in 2022. In general, exports showed a abrupt shrinkage. The smallest decline of -1.9% was in 2021.
