The average glass fibres and wool export price stood at $28,956 per ton in 2022, with an increase of 12% against the previous year. Overall, the export price showed a significant increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when the average export price increased by 53% against the previous year. The export price peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Italy ($149,305 per ton), while the average price for exports to South Korea ($13,275 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Italy (+51.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In September 2023, the average glass fibres and wool import price amounted to $7,565 per ton, increasing by 7.5% against the previous month. Over the last twelve months, it increased at an average monthly rate of +2.7%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in December 2022 when the average import price increased by 29% m-o-m. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $7,573 per ton in July 2023; afterwards, it flattened through to September 2023.

From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Canada (+9.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Exports of Glass Fibres and Wool in the United States
In 2022, glass fibres and wool exports from the United States rose sharply to 16K tons, growing by 9.2% compared with the previous year. In general, exports, however, showed a abrupt contraction.
