The average import price for glass fibres (including glass wool) and articles thereof (eg yarn, woven fabrics) stood at $2,309 per ton in March 2022, dropping by -4.1% against the previous month. In general, the import price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in February 2022 an increase of 17% m-o-m. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum at $2,742 per ton in July 2021; however, from August 2021 to March 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In March 2022, the country with the highest price was Cambodia ($5,201 per ton), while the price for Kuwait ($868 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From March 2021 to March 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Taiwan (Chinese) (+4.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Over the period under review, the export price, however, showed temperate growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 when the average export price increased by 97% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $7,695 per ton in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Australia ($4,509 per ton), while the average price for exports to the Philippines ($1,385 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Italy (+40.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
