In July 2023, the average import price for glass fibres (including glass wool) and articles thereof (eg yarn, woven fabrics) amounted to $1,978 per ton, waning by -56.8% against the previous month. In general, the import price continues to indicate a pronounced descent. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in January 2023 when the average import price increased by 31% month-to-month. The import price peaked at $4,627 per ton in May 2023; however, from June 2023 to July 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was Kuwait ($6,273 per ton), while the price for Turkey ($1,016 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From August 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Kuwait (+4.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.

Over the period under review, the export price continues to indicate a abrupt descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when the average export price increased by 141%. The export price peaked at $6,512 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($3,357 per ton), while the average price for exports to Saudi Arabia ($1,287 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to France (+69.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
