In 2022, the average import price for glass fibres (including glass wool) and articles thereof (eg yarn, woven fabrics) amounted to $1,990 per ton, rising by 10% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, saw a slight setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 an increase of 23% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $2,394 per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Russia ($4,239 per ton), while the price for Slovenia ($1,115 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Czech Republic (+5.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average export price for glass fibres (including glass wool) and articles thereof (eg yarn, woven fabrics) stood at $2,439 per ton in December 2023, declining by -5.8% against the previous month. Overall, the export price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in April 2023 an increase of 5.7% against the previous month. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $2,914 per ton. From May 2023 to December 2023, the the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Bosnia and Herzegovina ($3,747 per ton), while the average price for exports to the Czech Republic ($246 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From January 2023 to December 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Bosnia and Herzegovina (+10.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

Imports of glass fibres (including glass wool) and articles thereof (eg yarn, woven fabrics) into Serbia soared to 40K tons in 2022, with an increase of 30% against 2021. Overall, total imports indicated a significant increase from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +24.5% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +93.0% against 2019 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 35% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports of hit record highs in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.

In value terms, imports of glass fibres (including glass wool) and articles thereof (eg yarn, woven fabrics) soared to $80M in 2022. In general, imports enjoyed significant growth. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Over the period under review, total exports indicated strong growth from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +15.0% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +52.2% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 21%. Over the period under review, the exports of attained the peak figure in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in the near future.

In value terms, exports of glass fibres (including glass wool) and articles thereof (eg yarn, woven fabrics) surged to $52M in 2022. Overall, exports posted a significant increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 46%. The exports peaked in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in the near future.
