In 2022, the average import price for glass fibres (including glass wool) and articles thereof (eg yarn, woven fabrics) amounted to $3,704 per ton, with an increase of 36% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import price indicated a prominent increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +5.8% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The import price peaked at $3,740 per ton in 2019; afterwards, it flattened through to 2022.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the Czech Republic ($18,780 per ton), while the price for Kuwait ($1,162 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Czech Republic (+15.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Overall, the export price showed mild growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 an increase of 34%. The export price peaked at $15,278 per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the United Arab Emirates ($38,713 per ton), while the average price for exports to South Korea ($3,082 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the United Arab Emirates (+20.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +44.1% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 72% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of 3.9K tons, and then shrank significantly in the following year.

In value terms, imports of glass fibres (including glass wool) and articles thereof (eg yarn, woven fabrics) expanded sharply to $12M in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +3.9% over the period from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 35%. Imports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.

As a result, the exports reached the peak of 559 tons, and then shrank markedly in the following year.

In value terms, exports of glass fibres (including glass wool) and articles thereof (eg yarn, woven fabrics) contracted notably to $4.3M in 2022. Overall, exports, however, recorded significant growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 279%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $5.5M, and then reduced markedly in the following year.
