In January 2024, the average import price for glass fibres (including glass wool) and articles thereof (eg yarn, woven fabrics) amounted to $2,122 per ton, picking up by 13% against the previous month. In general, the import price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The import price peaked at $2,199 per ton in January 2023; however, from February 2023 to January 2024, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In January 2024, the country with the highest price was Germany ($8,059 per ton), while the price for Egypt ($783 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2023 to January 2024, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Germany (+3.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average export price for glass fibres (including glass wool) and articles thereof (eg yarn, woven fabrics) stood at $1,481 per ton in January 2024, with a decrease of -20.9% against the previous month. In general, the export price continues to indicate a noticeable curtailment. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in April 2023 when the average export price increased by 15% month-to-month. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure at $2,216 per ton in January 2023; however, from February 2023 to January 2024, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In January 2024, the country with the highest price was the UK ($2,183 per ton), while the average price for exports to Italy ($939 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2023 to January 2024, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Bulgaria (+1.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, approx. 214K tons of glass fibres (including glass wool) and articles thereof (eg yarn, woven fabrics) were imported into Turkey; growing by 8.2% against 2021 figures. Over the period under review, total imports indicated a strong increase from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +19.0% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +68.5% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 34% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports of hit record highs in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, imports of glass fibres (including glass wool) and articles thereof (eg yarn, woven fabrics) skyrocketed to $428M in 2022. In general, total imports indicated a significant increase from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +20.8% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +76.3% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when imports increased by 44%. Over the period under review, imports of reached the peak figure in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

For the fourth consecutive year, Turkey recorded growth in overseas shipments of glass fibres (including glass wool) and articles thereof (eg yarn, woven fabrics), which increased by 0.8% to 91K tons in 2022. Over the period under review, exports enjoyed a significant increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 49%. The exports peaked in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in the near future.
In value terms, exports of glass fibres (including glass wool) and articles thereof (eg yarn, woven fabrics) rose sharply to $172M in 2022. Overall, exports posted a significant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 60% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports of attained the peak figure in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.
