The average import price for glass fibres (including glass wool) and articles thereof (eg yarn, woven fabrics) stood at $2,009 per ton in December 2023, which is down by -5.7% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in November 2023 when the average import price increased by 17% month-to-month. The import price peaked at $2,371 per ton in April 2023; however, from May 2023 to December 2023, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Germany ($10,684 per ton), while the price for China ($1,634 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From December 2022 to December 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Germany (+5.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average export price for glass fibres (including glass wool) and articles thereof (eg yarn, woven fabrics) stood at $4,578 per ton in 2022, surging by 39% against the previous year. In general, the export price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum at $4,997 per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was France ($10,301 per ton), while the average price for exports to Switzerland ($2,020 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to France (+7.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Imports of Glass Fibres (Including Glass Wool) and Articles Thereof (Eg Yarn, Woven Fabrics) in Ukraine
In 2022, approx. 20K tons of glass fibres (including glass wool) and articles thereof (eg yarn, woven fabrics) were imported into Ukraine; dropping by -63.4% compared with the year before. Overall, imports continue to indicate a sharp shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 16%. As a result, imports attained the peak of 54K tons, and then dropped sharply in the following year.
In value terms, imports of glass fibres (including glass wool) and articles thereof (eg yarn, woven fabrics) shrank significantly to $46M in 2022. Over the period under review, imports saw a abrupt descent. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when imports increased by 24% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $79M, and then dropped dramatically in the following year.
