The average grapes; fresh or dried export price stood at $1,440 per ton in August 2023, declining by -15% against the previous month. Overall, the export price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in January 2023 an increase of 25% against the previous month. The export price peaked at $1,874 per ton in April 2023; however, from May 2023 to August 2023, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was the Czech Republic ($2,000 per ton), while the average price for exports to Bulgaria ($622 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Bulgaria (+4.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average grapes; fresh or dried import price stood at $1,562 per ton in August 2023, which is down by -29.6% against the previous month. Over the period under review, import price indicated modest growth from August 2022 to August 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +1.9% over the last twelve-month period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on August 2023 figures, grapes; fresh or dried import price decreased by -29.6% against July 2023 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in September 2022 when the average import price increased by 29% against the previous month. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum at $2,268 per ton in April 2023; however, from May 2023 to August 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($10,401 per ton), while the price for Pakistan ($409 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Netherlands (+16.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Exports of Grapes; Fresh or Dried in Greece
In 2022, shipments abroad of grapes; fresh or drieds decreased by -7.2% to 66K tons, falling for the second consecutive year after two years of growth. In general, exports showed a abrupt shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when exports increased by 5.8%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 86K tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, grapes; fresh or dried exports dropped remarkably to $104M in 2022. Overall, exports showed a abrupt curtailment. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 5.2%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $159M. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.
