In December 2021, the average grapes; fresh or dried import price amounted to $2,266 per ton, picking up by 8.1% against the previous month. In general, the import price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in August 2021 an increase of 16% against the previous month. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $2,701 per ton. From September 2021 to December 2021, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Australia ($6,754 per ton), while the price for Thailand ($1,274 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From December 2020 to December 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Lebanon (+4.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average grapes; fresh or dried export price stood at $1,838 per ton in December 2021, declining by -15.3% against the previous month. In general, the export price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in April 2021 an increase of 53% month-to-month. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $2,833 per ton in July 2021; however, from August 2021 to December 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In December 2021, the country with the highest price was Brunei Darussalam ($4,040 per ton), while the average price for exports to Thailand ($552 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From December 2020 to December 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Singapore (+2.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.
Imports of Grapes; Fresh or Dried in Malaysia
In 2022, after three years of growth, there was decline in purchases abroad of grapes; fresh or drieds, when their volume decreased by -3.9% to 48K tons. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.3% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 8.7% against the previous year.
