In August 2023, the average grapes; fresh or dried import price amounted to $2,415 per ton, rising by 1.9% against the previous month. In general, the import price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in November 2022 when the average import price increased by 10% m-o-m. The import price peaked at $2,585 per ton in December 2022; however, from January 2023 to August 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Peru ($2,968 per ton), while the price for Turkey ($1,717 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Namibia (+3.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In August 2023, the average grapes; fresh or dried export price amounted to $3,128 per ton, picking up by 19% against the previous month. In general, export price indicated a measured expansion from August 2022 to August 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +2.5% over the last twelve-month period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on August 2023 figures, grapes; fresh or dried export price increased by +49.9% against May 2023 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in February 2023 an increase of 56% m-o-m. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $4,329 per ton. From March 2023 to August 2023, the the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was Spain ($4,098 per ton), while the average price for exports to Turkey ($2,307 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the Netherlands (+3.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Imports of Grapes; Fresh or Dried in the UK
Grapes; fresh or dried imports into the UK declined to 357K tons in 2022, leveling off at 2021 figures. Over the period under review, imports recorded a slight setback. The smallest decline of -0.6% was in 2020.
In value terms, grapes; fresh or dried imports dropped to $818M in 2022. In general, imports saw a noticeable setback.
