The average import price for graphite; natural, in other forms, excluding powder or flakeses stood at $1,336 per ton in 2022, remaining stable against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 an increase of 54% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $1,355 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the Czech Republic ($7,382 per ton), while the price for Poland ($1,184 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Hungary (+52.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, purchases abroad of graphite; natural, in other forms, excluding powder or flakeses decreased by -31.7% to 506 tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. Over the period under review, imports, however, recorded a prominent expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 104% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of 740 tons, and then dropped markedly in the following year.
In value terms, imports of graphite; natural, in other forms, excluding powder or flakeses declined rapidly to $676K in 2022. Overall, imports, however, enjoyed a significant expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 215% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $976K, and then shrank notably in the following year.
