In August 2023, the average import price for graphite; natural, in powder or in flakeses amounted to $1,292 per ton, shrinking by -9.5% against the previous month. Over the period from December 2022 to August 2023, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.0%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in March 2023 when the average import price increased by 37% m-o-m. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure at $1,503 per ton in January 2023; however, from February 2023 to August 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was Brazil ($2,577 per ton), while the price for Madagascar ($767 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From December 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Netherlands (+0.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Over the period under review, the export price continues to indicate a slight slump. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in April 2023 when the average export price increased by 29% month-to-month. The export price peaked at $2,504 per ton in January 2023; however, from February 2023 to August 2023, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was the United States ($5,362 per ton), while the average price for exports to Switzerland ($3,218 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From December 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to France (+7.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
