In 2022, the average export price for graphite; natural, in powder or in flakeses amounted to $709 per ton, rising by 13% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, showed a perceptible curtailment. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $1,056 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Japan ($1,520 per ton), while the average price for exports to Austria ($511 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Slovenia (+4.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Overall, the import price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 an increase of 26%. The import price peaked at $2,244 per ton in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($8,756 per ton), while the price for China ($1,365 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Madagascar (+37.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
