Price for Grated and Blue Cheese in Portugal (CIF) - 2023
In August 2023, the average grated and blue cheese import price amounted to $5,528 per ton, standing approximately at the previous month. In general, the import price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in November 2022 when the average import price increased by 6.3% against the previous month. The import price peaked at $5,948 per ton in December 2022; however, from January 2023 to August 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was Italy ($9,310 per ton), while the price for Lithuania ($3,580 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Italy (+1.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.

In August 2023, the average grated and blue cheese export price amounted to $6,126 per ton, remaining constant against the previous month. Overall, the export price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in April 2023 an increase of 12% against the previous month. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $7,072 per ton. From May 2023 to August 2023, the the average export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was the United States ($11,151 per ton), while the average price for exports to Austria ($3,275 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the United States (+2.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Imports of Grated and Blue Cheese in Portugal
In 2022, the amount of grated, powdered and blue-veined cheese imported into Portugal expanded notably to 48K tons, picking up by 11% against the year before.
