Price for Hydrogen, Rare Gases and Other Non-Metals in Israel (CIF) - 2022

The average import price for hydrogen, rare gases and other non-metalses stood at $3.3 per cubic meter in 2022, picking up by 6.9% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, continues to indicate a noticeable shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 an increase of 63% against the previous year. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $8.6 per cubic meter. From 2014 to 2022, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($17 per cubic meter), while the price for Switzerland ($0.3 per cubic meter) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Germany (+18.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.

The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when the average export price increased by 91% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $0.7 per cubic meter in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Cyprus ($0.9 per cubic meter), while the average price for exports to the UK ($0.1 per cubic meter) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Canada (+21.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

After three years of growth, purchases abroad of hydrogen, rare gases and other non-metalses decreased by -0.9% to 12M cubic meters in 2022. In value terms, imports of hydrogen, rare gases and other non-metalses rose notably to $38M in 2022. Overall, total imports indicated buoyant growth from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +17.4% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +61.9% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 39% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
