The average import price for hydrogen, rare gases and other non-metalses stood at $322 per thousand cubic meters in December 2022, which is down by -12.4% against the previous month. Overall, the import price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in February 2022 an increase of 15% month-to-month. The import price peaked at $376 per thousand cubic meters in March 2022; however, from April 2022 to December 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.

As there is only one major supplying country, the average price level is determined by prices for Kuwait.

From January 2022 to December 2022, the rate of growth in terms of prices for Kuwait amounted to +0.2% per month.

The average export price for hydrogen, rare gases and other non-metalses stood at $0.6 per cubic meter in 2022, with a decrease of -26.6% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price continues to indicate a abrupt decline. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when the average export price increased by 79% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $2 per cubic meter in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Lebanon ($1.1 per cubic meter), while the average price for exports to Cyprus amounted to $0.5 per cubic meter.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Iraq (+15.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports of Hydrogen, Rare Gases and Other Non-Metals in Jordan

In 2022, imports of hydrogen, rare gases and other non-metalses into Jordan plummeted to 57M cubic meters, which is down by -31.2% compared with 2021 figures. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw a buoyant increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 114%. As a result, imports reached the peak of 83M cubic meters, and then declined remarkably in the following year.

In value terms, imports of hydrogen, rare gases and other non-metalses reduced rapidly to $15M in 2022. In general, total imports indicated a resilient expansion from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +9.8% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +47.8% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 78% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $18M, and then fell sharply in the following year.

For the third consecutive year, Jordan recorded decline in overseas shipments of hydrogen, rare gases and other non-metalses, which decreased by -33.5% to 1.2M cubic meters in 2022. Overall, exports continue to indicate a dramatic decline. The smallest decline of -20.1% was in 2021. Over the period under review, the exports of reached the maximum at 5.9M cubic meters in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, exports of hydrogen, rare gases and other non-metalses reduced dramatically to $709K in 2022. Over the period under review, exports faced a dramatic downturn. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 16%. The exports peaked at $1.8M in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.
