The average import price for hydroxide and peroxide of magnesia stood at $2,101 per ton in August 2023, growing by 16% against the previous month. Over the period under review, import price indicated a notable increase from August 2022 to August 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +3.8% over the last twelve months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on August 2023 figures, hydroxide and peroxide of magnesium import price decreased by -14.9% against June 2023 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in February 2023 when the average import price increased by 22% month-to-month. Over the period under review, export price indicated a strong increase from August 2022 to August 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +8.1% over the last twelve months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on August 2023 figures, hydroxide and peroxide of magnesium export price increased by +70.9% against July 2023 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in September 2022 when the average export price increased by 96% month-to-month. The export price peaked at $5,366 per ton in April 2023; however, from May 2023 to August 2023, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Hong Kong SAR ($13,881 per ton), while the average price for exports to Austria ($1,559 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Italy (+16.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
