In 2022, the average iodides and iodide oxides import price amounted to $28,302 per ton, picking up by 30% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, showed a pronounced decrease. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 an increase of 187%. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $53,142 per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the UK ($80,429 per ton), while the price for China ($16,955 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by France (+6.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Imports of Iodides and Iodide Oxides in Ethiopia
In 2022, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in supplies from abroad of iodides and iodide oxideses, when their volume decreased by -24.3% to 2 tons. Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate a buoyant increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 56% against the previous year.
