Price for Iron and Steel Wire in Singapore (FOB) - 2022
The average iron and steel wire export price stood at $4,647 per ton in September 2022, with an increase of 125% against the previous month. In general, the export price saw resilient growth. As a result, the export price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Malaysia ($8,020 per ton), while the average price for exports to Australia ($1,078 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From September 2021 to September 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Malaysia (+5.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Price for Iron and Steel Wire in Singapore (CIF) - 2022
In September 2022, the average iron and steel wire import price amounted to $4,162 per ton, which is down by -10.6% against the previous month. Overall, the import price, however, saw a strong increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in January 2022 when the average import price increased by 77% m-o-m. The import price peaked at $4,655 per ton in August 2022, and then declined in the following month.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was South Korea ($8,733 per ton), while the price for Thailand ($2,263 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From September 2021 to September 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Taiwan (Chinese) (+8.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Exports of Iron and Steel Wire in Singapore
In 2022, shipments abroad of iron and steel wire was finally on the rise to reach 54K tons after two years of decline. In general, exports, however, showed a noticeable decline.
In value terms, iron and steel wire exports shrank slightly to $59M in 2022. Overall, exports, however, continue to indicate a mild shrinkage. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 7.8% against the previous year.
