In August 2023, the average import price for iron or non-alloy steel; bars and rods, hot-rolled, in irregularly wound coilses amounted to $663 per ton, shrinking by -16.3% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price saw a pronounced curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in April 2023 an increase of 12% m-o-m. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $883 per ton. From May 2023 to August 2023, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was Turkey ($1,463 per ton), while the price for Bosnia and Herzegovina ($653 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From December 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Turkey (+82.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

In general, the export price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in March 2023 an increase of 15% m-o-m. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum at $1,056 per ton in December 2022; however, from January 2023 to August 2023, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
As there is only one major export destination, the average price level is determined by prices for Serbia.
From November 2022 to August 2023, the rate of growth in terms of prices for Slovakia amounted to +2.0% per month.
