In 2022, the average export price for iron or non-alloy steel; ingots (excluding iron of heading no. 7203)s amounted to $1,061 per ton, waning by -12.6% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 an increase of 64% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum at $1,213 per ton in 2021, and then shrank in the following year.
As there is only one major export destination, the average price level is determined by prices for South Sudan.
From 2012 to 2022, the rate of growth in terms of prices for South Sudan amounted to +0.6% per year.

Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.9%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 an increase of 41%. The import price peaked at $2,698 per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was India ($2,698 per ton), while the price for China ($103 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Tanzania (+24.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In general, exports, however, continue to indicate a significant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when exports increased by 461% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $26K. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports of failed to regain momentum.
