The average import price for iron or steel; cast articleses stood at $2,128 per ton in March 2022, which is down by -30.8% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in February 2022 when the average import price increased by 93% m-o-m. The import price peaked at $3,735 per ton in November 2021; however, from December 2021 to March 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Japan ($11,781 per ton), while the price for India ($1,152 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From March 2021 to March 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Taiwan (Chinese) (+3.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In March 2022, the average export price for iron or steel; cast articleses amounted to $3,260 per ton, which is down by -3.8% against the previous month. Overall, the export price, however, continues to indicate a notable increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in September 2021 when the average export price increased by 554% against the previous month. The export price peaked at $4,829 per ton in November 2021; however, from December 2021 to March 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In March 2022, the country with the highest price was Papua New Guinea ($33,935 per ton), while the average price for exports to Taiwan (Chinese) ($1,894 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From March 2021 to March 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Papua New Guinea (+12.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
