Price for Jute and Jute-Like Fibers in Nigeria (CIF) - 2022
In June 2022, the average jute and jute-like fibers import price amounted to $1,877 per ton, declining by -17.1% against the previous month. Over the period under review, import price indicated mild growth from June 2021 to June 2022: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +1.4% over the last twelve-month period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on June 2022 figures, jute and jute-like fibers import price decreased by -17.1% against May 2022 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in October 2021 when the average import price increased by 81% against the previous month. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure at $2,263 per ton in May 2022, and then dropped dramatically in the following month.
Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In June 2022, the country with the highest price was Bangladesh ($2,162 per ton), while the price for Kenya amounted to $1,852 per ton.
From June 2021 to June 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Kenya (+1.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
