Overall, the import price recorded a noticeable slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when the average import price increased by 33% against the previous year. In 2022, the average export price for lac; natural gums, resins, gum-resins and balsamses amounted to $6,073 per ton, shrinking by -62.7% against the previous year. In general, the export price recorded a drastic downturn. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when the average export price increased by 228% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $19,056 per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Average prices varied noticeably for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Georgia ($6,078 per ton), while the average price for exports to Moldova stood at $5,643 per ton.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Georgia (+3.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.
