Price for Lamb and Sheep Meat in Australia (FOB) - 2023
The average lamb and sheep meat export price stood at $4,898 per ton in August 2023, reducing by -10.1% against the previous month. Overall, the export price recorded a noticeable setback. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in May 2023 when the average export price increased by 3.1% m-o-m. The export price peaked at $7,170 per ton in August 2022; however, from September 2022 to August 2023, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was the United States ($8,808 per ton), while the average price for exports to China ($3,444 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Papua New Guinea (+1.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.
