Price for Lamb and Sheep Meat in Latvia (FOB) - 2023
In September 2023, the average lamb and sheep meat export price amounted to $10,801 per ton, approximately equating the previous month. Over the period from September 2022 to September 2023, it increased at an average monthly rate of +2.4%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in May 2023 when the average export price increased by 15% month-to-month. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $11,922 per ton. From June 2023 to September 2023, the the average export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Lithuania ($20,581 per ton), while the average price for exports to Finland ($9,042 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Finland (+2.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

The average lamb and sheep meat import price stood at $19,769 per ton in September 2023, surging by 36% against the previous month. In general, import price indicated notable growth from September 2022 to September 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +3.3% over the last twelve months. From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Netherlands (+6.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Exports of Lamb and Sheep Meat in Latvia
In 2022, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in shipments abroad of lamb and sheep meat, when their volume decreased by -20% to 174 tons.
