In 2022, the average lead; waste and scrap import price amounted to $1,659 per ton, which is down by -6.4% against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.1%. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 an increase of 29% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $1,810 per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.

Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the countries with the highest prices were Finland ($1,780 per ton) and Latvia ($1,661 per ton), while the price for Denmark ($1,524 per ton) and Lithuania ($1,631 per ton) were amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Latvia (+3.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average lead; waste and scrap export price amounted to $1,679 per ton, waning by -6.5% against the previous year. In general, export price indicated a measured expansion from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +3.1% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, lead; waste and scrap export price increased by +30.2% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 an increase of 36%. The export price peaked at $1,978 per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

Average prices varied noticeably for the major overseas markets. For the third year in a row, Estonia recorded decline in overseas purchases of lead; waste and scraps, which decreased by -23.5% to 260 tons in 2022. Over the period under review, imports saw a significant contraction.

In value terms, lead; waste and scrap imports fell rapidly to $432K in 2022. In general, imports faced a sharp setback. The smallest decline of -24.6% was in 2021.
