Price for Liquefied Ethylene, Propylene, Butylene and Butadiene in Uganda (CIF) - 2022

The average import price for liquefied ethylene, propylene, butylene and butadienes stood at $2,684 per ton in 2022, with an increase of 22% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import price indicated a buoyant increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +8.6% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, import price for liquefied ethylene, propylene, butylene and butadienes increased by +82.6% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 an increase of 46%. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $3,077 per ton. From 2017 to 2022, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.

Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Kenya ($18,032 per ton), while the price for the United Arab Emirates amounted to $16,046 per ton.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Kenya (+29.1%).

In general, the export price faced a deep reduction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 an increase of 106% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum at $7,710 per ton in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

As there is only one major export destination, the average price level is determined by prices for Burundi.
