Price for Lubricating Oil Additives; Containing Petroleum Oils or Oils Obtained from Bituminous Minerals in Uganda (CIF) - 2022
In 2022, the average import price for lubricating oil additives; containing petroleum oils or oils obtained from bituminous mineralses amounted to $2,492 per ton, reducing by -27.4% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, posted a buoyant expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 an increase of 70%. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $3,432 per ton, and then contracted markedly in the following year.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the United Arab Emirates ($5,211 per ton), while the price for China ($621 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United Arab Emirates (+23.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average export price for lubricating oil additives; containing petroleum oils or oils obtained from bituminous mineralses amounted to $2,347 per ton, surging by 13% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, recorded a mild contraction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 an increase of 123%. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $5,055 per ton in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Democratic Republic of the Congo ($27,640 per ton), while the average price for exports to Rwanda ($985 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to South Sudan (+12.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.
Imports of Lubricating Oil Additives; Containing Petroleum Oils or Oils Obtained from Bituminous Minerals in Uganda
In 2022, approx. 204 tons of lubricating oil additives; containing petroleum oils or oils obtained from bituminous mineralses were imported into Uganda; growing by 49% against the year before. In general, imports enjoyed strong growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 72% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of 270 tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports of failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, imports of lubricating oil additives; containing petroleum oils or oils obtained from bituminous mineralses stood at $509K in 2022. Overall, total imports indicated prominent growth from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +15.7% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports decreased by -6.8% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 66% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $546K. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports of failed to regain momentum.

Exports of Lubricating Oil Additives; Containing Petroleum Oils or Oils Obtained from Bituminous Minerals in Uganda
In 2022, overseas shipments of lubricating oil additives; containing petroleum oils or oils obtained from bituminous mineralses decreased by -37.6% to 3.5 tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. Overall, exports, however, enjoyed a significant expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 318%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 5.6 tons, and then plummeted in the following year.
In value terms, exports of lubricating oil additives; containing petroleum oils or oils obtained from bituminous mineralses fell markedly to $8.3K in 2022. In general, exports, however, showed a significant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 146%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $12K, and then shrank rapidly in the following year.
