The average import price for machines and mechanical appliances; parts, of those having individual functionses stood at $22,268 per ton in August 2023, with an increase of 2.2% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in July 2023 when the average import price increased by 22% m-o-m. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $34,303 per ton in January 2023; however, from February 2023 to August 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In August 2023, the highest price was recorded for prices from the United Arab Emirates ($26,870 per ton) and Germany ($24,119 per ton), while the price for South Korea ($19,744 per ton) and Japan ($20,724 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United Arab Emirates (+0.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.

The average export price for machines and mechanical appliances; parts, of those having individual functionses stood at $6,831 per ton in 2022, jumping by 34% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 an increase of 79%. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $12,719 per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Oman ($102,768 per ton), while the average price for exports to Japan ($3,882 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Mexico (+47.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
