The average export price for meat of bovine animals; fresh or chilled stood at $9,792 per ton in January 2024, increasing by 3.7% against the previous month. Overall, the export price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in June 2023 when the average export price increased by 6.7% month-to-month. The export price peaked at $10,168 per ton in July 2023; however, from August 2023 to January 2024, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Germany ($18,490 per ton), while the average price for exports to China ($5,733 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From January 2023 to January 2024, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to New Caledonia (+0.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure in January 2024.

As there is only one major supplying country, the average price level is determined by prices for Australia.

From January 2023 to January 2024, the rate of growth in terms of prices for Australia amounted to +0.5% per month.
