Price for Meat of Bovine Animals; Frozen in Colombia (FOB) - 2022

In February 2022, the average export price for meat of bovine animals; frozen amounted to $3,960 per ton, almost unchanged from the previous month. Over the period from February 2021 to February 2022, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.5%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in April 2021 when the average export price increased by 9.6% m-o-m. The export price peaked at $4,217 per ton in July 2021; however, from August 2021 to February 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

Average prices varied somewhat for the major external markets. In February 2022, the highest price was recorded for prices to Curacao ($4,828 per ton) and Turkey ($4,751 per ton), while the average price for exports to Egypt ($3,633 per ton) and Libya ($3,762 per ton) were amongst the lowest.

From February 2021 to February 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Jordan (+4.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average import price for meat of bovine animals; frozen stood at $6,462 per ton in February 2022, shrinking by -9.2% against the previous month. Over the last twelve-month period, it increased at an average monthly rate of +3.4%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in September 2021 when the average import price increased by 22% m-o-m. The import price peaked at $7,113 per ton in January 2022, and then reduced in the following month.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In February 2022, the country with the highest price was Uruguay ($9,779 per ton), while the price for Chile ($5,148 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From February 2021 to February 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Argentina (+7.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Exports of Meat of Bovine Animals; Frozen in Colombia

In 2022, overseas shipments of meat of bovine animals; frozen decreased by -18.7% to 27K tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. Over the period under review, exports, however, posted a significant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 60% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 33K tons, and then fell sharply in the following year.
