In general, the import price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in March 2023 an increase of 20% against the previous month. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum at $10,926 per ton in June 2023; however, from July 2023 to December 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In December 2023, the country with the highest price was New Zealand ($12,731 per ton), while the price for Australia stood at $8,619 per ton.

In December 2023, the average export price for meat of sheep or goats; fresh, chilled or frozen amounted to $6,870 per ton, increasing by 2.3% against the previous month. In general, the export price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in February 2023 when the average export price increased by 36% month-to-month. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure at $7,067 per ton in June 2023; however, from July 2023 to December 2023, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In December 2023, the country with the highest price was Costa Rica ($28,572 per ton), while the average price for exports to Hong Kong SAR ($1,406 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From December 2022 to December 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Costa Rica (+19.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
