The average import price for medium density fibreboard (MDF) of thickness from 5 to 9 mm stood at $495 per cubic meter in 2022, with a decrease of -1.9% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price saw a noticeable shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when the average import price increased by 9.9% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $627 per cubic meter in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($869 per cubic meter), while the price for Ukraine ($255 per cubic meter) was amongst the lowest.

In general, total imports indicated a strong increase from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +15.3% over the last three-year period.
