In November 2023, the average import price for metals; iridium, osmium, ruthenium, unwrought or in powder forms amounted to $31.1M per ton, dropping by -29.6% against the previous month. Overall, the import price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in October 2023 an increase of 182% against the previous month. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $44,180 per kg, and then declined sharply in the following month.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was the United States ($43.6M per ton), while the price for Japan ($12.0M per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From November 2022 to November 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United States (+2.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

The average export price for metals; iridium, osmium, ruthenium, unwrought or in powder forms stood at $24.4M per ton in November 2023, waning by -34.2% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in September 2023 an increase of 36% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure at $37.2M per ton in October 2023, and then declined rapidly in the following month.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In November 2023, the country with the highest price was Japan ($66.2M per ton), while the average price for exports to India ($12.7M per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From November 2022 to November 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Japan (+14.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

In 2022, overseas purchases of metals; iridium, osmium, ruthenium, unwrought or in powder forms decreased by -50.2% to 8 tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. In value terms, imports of metals; iridium, osmium, ruthenium, unwrought or in powder forms contracted rapidly to $276M in 2022. In general, imports, however, recorded a significant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 112% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $368M, and then dropped significantly in the following year.
