In May 2024, the average import price for metals; rhodium, unwrought or in powder forms amounted to $148M per ton, approximately equating the previous month. In general, the import price continues to indicate a deep setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in December 2023 an increase of 17% against the previous month. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum at $311M per ton in May 2023; however, from June 2023 to May 2024, import prices remained at a lower figure.

Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In May 2024, the countries with the highest prices were Germany ($164M per ton) and Italy ($152M per ton), while the price for South Korea ($140M per ton) and South Africa ($141M per ton) were amongst the lowest.

From May 2023 to May 2024, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Italy (-5.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

In May 2024, the average export price for metals; rhodium, unwrought or in powder forms amounted to $151M per ton, with an increase of 1.7% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price, however, showed a perceptible setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in August 2023 when the average export price increased by 5.1% month-to-month. The export price peaked at $281M per ton in June 2023; however, from July 2023 to May 2024, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Average prices varied noticeably for the major export markets. In May 2024, the highest price was recorded for prices to Japan ($156M per ton) and Canada ($152M per ton), while the average price for exports to China ($145M per ton) and South Korea ($150M per ton) were amongst the lowest.

From May 2023 to May 2024, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Italy (-3.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

In 2022, approx. 28 tons of metals; rhodium, unwrought or in powder forms were imported into the United States; dropping by -34.5% compared with the previous year. Overall, imports recorded a mild reduction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 74%. As a result, imports reached the peak of 43 tons, and then contracted notably in the following year.

In value terms, imports of metals; rhodium, unwrought or in powder forms contracted markedly to $6.8B in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed significant growth.
