In July 2023, the average export price for mica, including splittings; mica wastes amounted to $735 per ton, reducing by -8.7% against the previous month. Over the last twelve months, it increased at an average monthly rate of +2.3%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in November 2022 an increase of 24% m-o-m. The export price peaked at $805 per ton in June 2023, and then declined in the following month.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was Taiwan (Chinese) ($1,359 per ton), while the average price for exports to Sweden ($578 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Taiwan (Chinese) (+4.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Over the period under review, the import price, however, saw a slight decrease. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when the average import price increased by 15% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum at $1,024 per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
