In August 2023, the average export price for mica, including splittings; mica wastes amounted to $730 per ton, which is down by -2.9% against the previous month. Overall, the export price saw a perceptible decline. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in July 2023 an increase of 3.7% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum at $1,180 per ton in August 2022; however, from September 2022 to August 2023, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Average prices varied noticeably for the major overseas markets. In August 2023, the countries with the highest prices were China ($736 per ton) and India ($728 per ton), while the average price for exports to the UK ($728 per ton) and South Korea ($728 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the UK (-3.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

In 2022, the average import price for mica, including splittings; mica wastes amounted to $547 per ton, leveling off at the previous year. Overall, import price indicated buoyant growth from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +5.0% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, mica, including splittings; mica waste import price increased by +51.9% against 2016 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 when the average import price increased by 21% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $553 per ton in 2021, and then fell modestly in the following year.
