The average mineral or aerated water export price stood at $333 per thousand litres in February 2023, dropping by -4.4% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price showed a drastic downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in August 2022 an increase of 12% m-o-m. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $869 per thousand litres in February 2022; however, from March 2022 to February 2023, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In February 2023, the country with the highest price was Botswana ($542 per thousand litres), while the average price for exports to the UK ($184 per thousand litres) was amongst the lowest.
From February 2022 to February 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the UK (+1.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

In February 2023, the average mineral or aerated water import price amounted to $933 per thousand litres, surging by 658% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price showed a tangible expansion. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $935 per thousand litres in September 2022; however, from October 2022 to February 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
