The average export price for mollusc preparations; clams, cockles and arkshells, prepared or preserveds stood at $2,500 per ton in 2022, with an increase of 12% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 an increase of 17%. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum at $2,690 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

Average prices varied noticeably for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the highest price was recorded for prices to Japan ($2,501 per ton) and Portugal ($2,501 per ton), while the average price for exports to Italy ($2,501 per ton) and Spain ($2,501 per ton) were amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Spain (+6.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Over the period under review, imports showed significant growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 173%. Imports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.

In value terms, imports of mollusc preparations; clams, cockles and arkshells, prepared or preserveds skyrocketed to $14M in 2022. In general, imports showed a significant increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 200%. Over the period under review, imports of hit record highs in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.
