The average import price for molluscs; octopus (octopus spp.), frozen, dried, salted or in brine stood at $8,182 per ton in 2022, declining by -6.8% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, posted a noticeable increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 when the average import price increased by 79% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $9,000 per ton in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Senegal ($12,571 per ton), while the price for India ($333 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Senegal (+6.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
