Price for Molybdenum; Articles Thereof, Including Waste and Scrap in Cameroon (CIF) - 2022

In 2022, the average import price for molybdenum; articles thereof, including waste and scrap amounted to $11,668 per ton, with a decrease of -13.1% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, recorded a mild increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 an increase of 195%. The import price peaked at $34,433 per ton in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($391,500 per ton), while the price for China ($1,238 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Germany (+7.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, overseas purchases of molybdenum; articles thereof, including waste and scrap decreased by -9.4% to 1.2 tons, falling for the second year in a row after two years of growth. Over the period under review, total imports indicated a resilient increase from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +7.4% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports decreased by -20.8% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 57% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of 1.5 tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports of remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, imports of molybdenum; articles thereof, including waste and scrap shrank sharply to $14K in 2022. Overall, imports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 62%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $23K. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports of failed to regain momentum.
