In December 2023, the average export price for molybdenum; articles thereof, including waste and scrap amounted to $54,546 per ton, with a decrease of -8.8% against the previous month. In general, the export price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in February 2023 when the average export price increased by 21% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $83,606 per ton in March 2023; however, from April 2023 to December 2023, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In December 2023, the country with the highest price was Russia ($77,644 per ton), while the average price for exports to the United States ($43,632 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From December 2022 to December 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Russia (+2.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

As a result, import price reached the peak level of $164K per ton. From September 2023 to December 2023, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.
