In April 2024, the average export price for newspapers, journals and periodicals, appearing at least four times a week amounted to $7,640 per ton, dropping by -20% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in March 2024 when the average export price increased by 145% month-to-month. The export price peaked at $9,597 per ton in August 2023; however, from September 2023 to April 2024, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In April 2024, the country with the highest price was Switzerland ($15,050 per ton), while the average price for exports to Vietnam stood at $590 per ton.
From April 2023 to April 2024, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Vietnam (+41.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average import price for newspapers, journals and periodicals, appearing at least four times a week amounted to $5,263 per ton, shrinking by -4.1% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price recorded a noticeable downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when the average import price increased by 24%. The import price peaked at $7,835 per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Greece ($10,115 per ton), while the price for Austria ($3,158 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Greece (+4.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
