The average import price for newspapers, journals and periodicals, appearing at least four times a week stood at $3,093 per ton in 2022, picking up by 12% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, showed a noticeable decline. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 an increase of 112%. The import price peaked at $9,285 per ton in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was India ($14,195 per ton), while the price for Turkey ($500 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by India (+8.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

Overall, the export price, however, continues to indicate a notable expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 an increase of 114%. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $12,172 per ton in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Ghana ($20,500 per ton), while the average price for exports to Canada ($3,000 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Sierra Leone (+10.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

In value terms, exports of newspapers, journals and periodicals, appearing at least four times a week fell remarkably to $71 in 2022. Overall, exports faced a sharp setback.
