The average import price for newspapers, journals and periodicals, appearing at least four times a week stood at $3,093 per ton in 2022, picking up by 12% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, showed a noticeable decline. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 an increase of 112%. The import price peaked at $9,285 per ton in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Ghana ($20,500 per ton), while the average price for exports to Canada ($3,000 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Sierra Leone (+10.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.
